Vino Nobile di Montepulciano which translates to 'Noble Wine of Montepulciano' is one of Sangiovese's most sought after appellations. The fruit for the Lombardo Reserve comes from an exclusive old vineyard overlooking the picturesque town of Montepulciano, planted in 1972.
Aromas of blackberries, cherries, violet and leather, lead on to fleshy black cherry, espresso and star anise characters on the palate, alongside fine grained tannins and lively acidity. A structured wine that will pair with hearty tomato-based pastas, casseroles and grilled meats. 91 points, James Suckling.
