Synonymous with the spectacular region of Puglia and typically grown on enormous bush vines, Primitivo is one of the more arduous styles of wine to produce. The Pietrafinita Primitivo is made with hand-picked fruit from the estate’s 55 year-old bush vines. Ruby red in the glass, the wine displays hints of black cherry and liquorice on the nose, leading to ripe berries, cocoa, almond and figs on the palate. There is ample structure here to cellar for another 10-15 years. A brilliant companion to roasted lamb, grilled meats or the hearty vegetarian eggplant dishes of Southern Italy.
